MyKnowledgeMap (www.myknowledgemap.com) is committed to protecting the privacy of visitors to all MyKnowledgeMap websites. We will collect your personal information fairly and tell you how we intend to use the information.

Anonymous information collected

The only individual, but anonymous, data which MyKnowledgeMap will automatically record from visitors to the site are:

Personal data required by the badge designer

The badge designer application requires users to provide a valid email address in order to access the applications functionality. This email address is stored in the form of a cookie on your computer with an expiry time of 365 days from creation.

When used as part of an integrated solution a unique identifier may be shared that allows created badges to be tied to a specific user. It is recommended that developers do not pass sensitive information, such as names or email addresses, as this identifier but as a safeguard this data is never sent as plain text and is not returned from the badge designer. This identifier is, however, stored against saved badges allowing for potential future functionality.

How we use data gathered by the badge designer

Email addresses you provide through the OpenBadges.me website will only be made available to relevant employees at MyKnowledgeMap. We will not share them with any third party without your consent, unless we are required by law to do so, or in connection with any legal proceedings or defending our legal rights or as part of any sale or prospective sale of MyKnowledgeMap or its assets.

We may use these email addresses:

  • To provide information to you relating to other products that may be of interest to you.

Email addresses may also be used for:

  • Identification of misuse of the application, including the creation of images deemed to be offensive* or inappropriate
  • Storage of badge details against an identifiable user property allowing for future functional enhancements

  • Content that is deceptive or fraudulent.
  • Content that is harmful to minors.

By using the badge designer application you agree that MyKnowledgeMap Ltd may retain a copy of your badge graphic, and its constituent elements, for use in marketing and promotion of the OpenBadges.me website as well as other related activities. Badge graphics that are retained will be tagged with the supplied email address and this information will be used for internal purposes only and will not be exposed to third parties.

Children and privacy

Our website does not target and is not intended to attract children under the age of 14. We do not knowingly solicit personal information from children under the age of 14 or send them requests for personal information.

If you intend to use the badge designer application with children under the age of 14 it is advised that this is done through an integrated delivery removing the requirement for end-users to provide an email address.
